Budgie - 'Never Turn Your Back On A Friend'
Original 1st UK Pressing on the black MCA label, housed in the correct 'gatefold' cover - signed by all three band members in clear ink to the front.
An incredible rarity that will appeal to 'prog-rock' collectors, and collectors of rare vinyl in general.
Please feel free to inspect the signatures; I have provided close-up photos for you to view. As you can see, this would look fantastic framed, as the signatures remain clear and contrast well to the cover imagery.
Cover: VG : There is some foxing around the edges along with some other storage-related wear to the back and front. The imagery still displays well, and the colours are still vibrant. The spine still remains legible but is beginning to show signs of wear in the form of some light cracking. As it stands it has not 'split' through the cover, but may just require some careful handling in the future to prevent further wearing (please study photos). The cover is still functional, and doesn't suffer from any major defects, such as tearing. Overall, this is a good example for what is a naturally delicate cover.
Vinyl: VG/VG+ : The playing surface looks very reasonable, with no major marks of concern. There are the usual wispy hairline marks consummate with age, and what may be termed as 'sleeve-removal' marks, but no deep scratches. Graded under strong light, so inevitably some marks were visible, but to reaffirm they were non-feelable and fairly harmless in nature. Overall, a very respectable copy, which does show some signs of use, but still a very playable copy.
I did test-play this album in its entirety, and found that the sound was still great. There was evidence of some light background noise/static, particularly in the quieter passages, but nothing that particularly detracted from the overall listening experience. The surface noise present could be reduced with a proper clean, so this could be considered. However, to my ear it was not overwhelming and the music shone through with great clarity and dynamic-range. There were NO skips, jumps or sticks. Still a very repectable listen in my opinion!
