Description

Scarce UK demonstration single of 'Midnight Shift' - Buddy Holly's second UK Brunswick release.. Originally released on Brunswick label in 1959 coupled with 'Rock Around With Ollie Vee', to cash in on Buddy's untimely death in February of that year. Here is a demo copy of one side of the record.  The flip side is a little unusual - the label is a 'Durium' label showing 'Honeymoon' by the Marino Marini Quartet, but I have not played this single since buying it some time ago and therefore have no idea what actually plays on the B side!  It may well be another artist, but could also possibly be Buddy Holly, but with an incorrect label attached.  I have no idea if demos were pressed using two different artists in those days, but it is a very interesting item nevertheless.  These would have been sent to disc jockeys, music paper record reviewers and others in the music business, and would therefore have been pressed in very limited numbers. On the pink Brunswick demo label, with the catalogue number 05800 handwritten on the label.  It has obviously been played many times previously, but appears to be in good shape for a fifty-eight year old record. A little other label writing, but overall a lovely copy. I am thinning out my collection - other Buddy Holly records will be following in due course. UK bidders/buyers only please.
