For sale is Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band Live 1975-85, originally released in 1986 by Columbia Records as deluxe 5 LP box set with premium inner sleeves and a 32-page booklet. In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks are the matrix numbers and "Masterdisk" and "DMM", indicating that these records were mastered at Masterdisk Studios, N.Y.C. as a Direct Metal Master. The matrix numbers in order from side 1-10 are: 2-A/1-A/1-A/1-A/2-A/1-A/2-A/1-A. These are all hallmarks of state-of-the art engineering that produce superior sound quality, sought after my collectors and music lovers. I bought this used, professionally cleaned them on my VPI HW-17 machine and immediately put them into five MFSL archival inner sleeves. This protects the integrity of the vinyl and any original inner sleeve(s) or insert(s) that may have come with the record. When I cleaned all ten sides, I noticed how tight three (disc 3-5) of the records fit on the spindle of my VPI machine. This usually indicates that the record has never been played, so I played the first two records but not the last three records. I'm sure those discs were not played. The inner sleeves are Near Mint. The 32 page booklet is Near Mint. The cover is graded as Excellent because of corner rubs and a very light shelf wear in general. The spine has just a little color loss. The vinyl is visually graded as Near Mint Minus for disc 1 & 2 and Near Mint for discs 3-5. There were faint sleeve marks on Disc 1 & 2 only. I'm play grading the first two as Excellent because of some low level surface noise, most noticeable in the quiet sections. The custom labels are all Near Mint. It's been played on state-of-the-art audiophile equipment during the grading process and my experience tells me that most people would grade this as Near Mint. This is the best copy of this rare box set that I've seen and you would be hard pressed to find one in this condition. I've been collecting records for about 50 years now and have always cleaned them and put them away carefully in plastic inner sleeves. Over the years I've used Dust Bugs, Disc Washers and have finally invested in a professional VPI record cleaning machine. Now that I'm retiring, I'm selling my very esoteric collection. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative.
