Description
1-sided 45rpm ten-inch acetate reference recording of "Rosalita (Come Out Tonight)" by Bruce Springsteen. Columbia Recording Studios, 49 East 52nd Street, New York label with handwritten catalog number CO-117215 and dated March 2nd, 1977 (3-2-77). Length of the recording is written as 7:02.
Condition of the record is VG+ with occasional light surface marks, mostly on the wide outer grooved area preceding the start of the song. I played the first 10 seconds or so of the record on a lightweight stylus just to confirm Rosalita is in fact the song (it is), and it played clear with a very high quality sound.
While "Rosalita" was included on two Columbia promotional 33rpm EPs, it was never released in the United States as a 45rpm single. I believe Bruce strongly encouraged Columbia to release it as a single around this time (1977) and this acetate might reflect the studio's first step in the process of releasing it, however the effort was ultimately abandoned.
"Rosalita" is widely regarded as one of the greatest rock and roll songs of all time. This is as close to a one-of-a-kind example as you're likely to find.
