This auction is for a numbered, signed lithograph poster of Brian Eno by Peter Schmidt. Best guess is that it was done in the late '70's. It is signed and numbered in th lower left hand corner. The number is 597/1500 and it is signed by Peter Schmidt. The poster is green with a large picture of Brian Eno in orange and echru in the center, surrounded by many different poses of Brian. It was obtained from a radio studio in Cleveland. The poster is unprofessionally matted. The lithograph has flaws from age and because it was hung with tape or thumb tacks at one time. I have tried to capture most of them in the photos. Peter Schmidt was an artist and teacher in England. He was born in 1931 and died in Spain in 1980. He was part of a generation of art school teachers in the 1960's and 1970's that had great impact on osme students who later went on to work in music. He worked with Hansjorg Mayer, and may have had associations with Mark Boyle and Tom Phillips. Schmidt was a teacher of Brian Eno at art school in the 1960's and later they found they had both independently arrived at a system of using little quotes and axioms to overcome artistic obstacles. They combined efforts to publish the Oblique Strategies cards in 1975.
