Boomerang Featuring Mark Stein-Boomerang (1971 Australian Promotional Only 12” vinyl LP released thru RCA Victor - LSP-4577) Boomerang- by definition, something that returns to the originator. Mark Stein may have been ahead of his time. As a founding member of Vanilla Fudge, largely remembered for the hit “You Keep Me Hangin’ On,” Stein cultivated an organ rich sound that influenced other heavy organ rock bands, most notably, Deep Purple; Stein is credited as an originator of sounds that bridged psychedelia with what eventually became heavy metal.

Boomerang was released by a band Stein formed—and though it carries the thematic elements that made Vanilla Fudge influential—bombastic organ work, wailing vocals and driving hard rock guitar and drums—it never did much commercially. On its own merits, it’s a good album, and one that if not “lost,” certainly doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. It was released by RCA during the Dynaflex era in 1971 and this Australian promotional issue is housed in non-laminated sleeve in excellent overall condition showing some light ring wear. LP with RCA Orange labels shows ‘Not For Sale Sample Record’ detail printed on A Side label in excellent condition.

The record has been played many times but shows no significant deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks. Sleeve has normal wear and tear without any major defects.

GOOD (G)

The record has been played enough that the sound quality has deteriorated noticeably and may have pops and skips. The sleeve may suffer from scuffs, spine splits, ring wear and/or discolouration.
