EXTREMELY RARE BON JOVI COVER
Here up for grabs is the original BANNED cover of Bon Jovi’s “Slippery When Wet”. As per Wikipedia, the album originally was to feature a busty, 34DD woman in a wet yellow T-shirt with the album name on the front of the shirt but was changed the last minute. The reasons most often given for the switch were record execs' fears that the dominant record store chains at the time would have refused to carry the album with such a sexist cover, or Jon Bon Jovi's complaint that the record company had put a bright pink border around the photograph that the band had submitted. Nonetheless, this is the banned AMERICAN cover, for the full album, not the Japanese import or a 12” single. (See photos)
This ultra-rare piece is from a private collector who knew Derek Shulman – the band’s A&R rep at PolyGram – and was given a copy before the album cover was banned. Who knows if Jon BonJovi even has a copy! Cover is in very good shape, a few bends, but shows no wear or tear. No album is included- you are getting just the sleeve.
