ORIGINAL mono 1966 pressing, unplayed, untouched. Mint. Fred Smith produced early version of the song he would produce again later and make into a hit. This one is scarce and probably was pressed in the 100s, no promo version even being made, as this one was was, most likely. Private labels often didn't press promo's as they had no return policy and just sent stock copies out as promos. This was the FIRST 45 for the KEYMAN/MIRWOOD label in 1966, produced by Fred Smith, the famous soul producer who worked out of LA with several amazing singles under his belt. This was the SECOND EVER solo single for Womack and just as scarce or more so than his first on the HIM label. It's a microscopic but very important crossroads for two MASSIVE talents in soul at a crossroads for both of them. This single did not chart, needless to say, and likely didn't enjoy local spins in LA either. The Mirettes (more commonly known as the Ikettes until they left Ike Turner) are probably the backup singers on this. Check out the great audio below, archived in true mono for myself and your enjoyment, Cd quality, but you may get better results from the 45 with a custom stylus and a cart made to handle these hot 45's. Lots of dead wax heard on the front and back end of the sample to show how clean it is. This is a nice glossy pressing, as good as any I've heard, for fidelity and the colors on the labels are popping, pressed on heavy VINYL, not styrene.
