Description
Here's one for the cratediggers, beatmakers, northern soul folk, funk fanatics, private press junkies and collectors: You are bidding on Bobby Williams FUNKY SUPER FLY lp on R.E.W. Records 1974, with rare Fan Club cover.
This is an original, not a reissue. Lp in excellent mint/near mint condition, sleeve shows light ring wear.
As you can see in the photo, this cover is different from the funky super fly cover on the reissue. This version features an abstract painting with text reading "Bobby Williams Funky Super Fly Explodes Across The Nation Like The Atom Bomb." Below the title, a note reads: "to get this record free all you have to say is that you want to become a member of his fan club."
This is one of the more rare records to pass through my hands in a while. If you are unfamiliar with Bobby Williams, the sound here is similar to the hard funk of James Brown and the J.B.'s (late 60's/early 70's), and the songs included here prove to be a strong, commanding set--full of corners, breaks, beats--hard, tight funk. This is one of the infamous "head" records that deserves the hunt and the hype! Add this gem to your collection!
