Label/Cat#: Blue Note / BLP-4231

Pressing info: 1967 NEW YORK USA MONO pressing. This edition does have the VAN GELDER stamp in the dead wax, which makes it the first pressing. These original mono pressings from this era are extremely rare.

GRADING VG-: Vinyl shows of wear with multiple hairlines and marks but none are too significant in nature. If viewed under a very bright light you will see these imperfections.Side A is more of a visual VG-, where side 2 is much more of a VG+.

  • Vinyl (play-graded): Really nice sound throughout. This is a beautifully recorded album by Van Gelder and it's well presented here. I've only cleaned on my spin-clean. If you have a good machine or system I suspect this will play even better.
  • Side A: You will hear surface noise that is much more prominent on the track 2 ballad; some pops will be heard in the quieter sections and occasionally on the uptempo tracks. Most of this side absolutely burns, and it's very enjoyable listen.
  • Side B: This side is much closer to VG+ and almost VG++. Side plays clean and almost dead quiet in many sections. You will hear light crackle at times and the occasional pop. Big, clear sound. This version of Herbie Hancock's "Maiden Voyage" must be heard!
  • Jacket: VG+ Please see pictures for details. Reach out with any questions. The edges and seams do show signs of wear which is documented. Nice spine. Mild ring wear, which is documented here. There is a sticker on the front with a touch of pen that has slightly touched the cover surrounding it. A good restorer may be able to remove this easily.
  • Insert/Inner: Archival-quality inner sleeve.

SHIPPING:
Record ships outside the jacket to prevent seam splits. Packed in a sturdy Mighty Mailer with padding.
