Available here is a classic, RARE 1960's-era LP for the country music fan:
"The Delta Sweete", from Bobbie Gentry, her second LP. Released on Capitol Records (ST 2842), 1968.
The vinyl is glossy with light visible scratches, but on play testing the audible crackling is light and by no means overpowers the music, even in the quiet sections. There are no skips. The liner is plain paper, and has one tear on a corner (see photo). Both labels are clean as well.
About this rare LP:
The Delta Sweete is a concept album based on modern life in the Deep South. Gentry wrote eight of the album's 12 tracks, which detail her Mississippi childhood and includes vignettes of home and church life ("Reunion" and "Sermon"), as well as recollections of blues and country hits she heard as a youngster ("Big Boss Man" and "Tobacco Road"). The song "Okolona River Bottom Band", accented by a sophisticated horn chart and breathy strings, used the same basic cadence as "Ode to Billie Joe".
This was Bobbie Gentry's follow-up to her debut LP (which featured her smash "Ode to Billie Joe"), and has become an extremely rare LP (it was repackaged/reissued three years later under the name "Tobacco Road").
