Bob Marley, "Catch a Fire," Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs #MFSL 1-236
Original Master Recording, half-speed mastered from first generation master recording, 200 grams high-definition vinyl, limited edition.

I received this as part of a lot of other stuff, and was astonished to discover that it's a valuable collectible. I like Bob Marley and the Wailers well enough, but this belongs in the hands of a true fan and collector.
Condition: Great! No labels, scratches, fingerprints, writing, tears, cigarette odor, or any other nasty surprises. There are some punched holes on the rear section of the gatefold jacket (in the serial number box?), which I believe indicate "review copy" (more about that below). Please examine the photos to judge the condition.
Provenance: It helps, I think, to know something about the item's history. Who owned it before, and how did it find its way here? With vinyl, that matters even more. Here's what I know and what I speculate:
The guy I got this from was an editor/reviewer for a well known audiophile magazine (well, actually, the best-known of these magazines). This disc was sent to him for review. Judging from the cosmetic condition of the package, I speculate that he listened to it (or part of it) once --- if that. I'll further speculate that he owned a decent turntable since he was "in the biz." His household is non-smoking.
Next, it came to me. Another non-smoking household. I remember enough about hi-fi to recognize the Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs brand name, so I handled the disc carefully. I put it on my turntable and listened to "Stir It Up." It sounded great, of course. My setup is a Technics SL-1650 direct drive with a 2-week old Audio Technica cartridge tracking at 1.5 grams. I noticed that there is no warp. Then, I put it back in its original rice-paper and polyethylene sleeve. That's it.
Conclusion: This is probably as close to new condition as you can get without opening the original plastic wrap yourself. I hope this is the one you have been looking for.
