Description
Released in 1973, Catch a Fire was Bob Marley's first major ladel (island) release
The first 20,000 copies of the original 1973 vinyl release were encased in the famous Zippo sleeve. This sleeve worked as a Zippo lighter case, opening at a side hinge to reveal the record within.
However, the producers soon realized that this operation would require hand-manufacture, as machinery available was not sufficient to rivet the upper and lower halves of the sleeve together.
Subsequent pressings therefore possess alternative cover art with a portrait photo of Bob.
THIS IS ALBUM IS ONE OF THE RARE 20,000 ORIGINAL PRESSING, MAKING IT A REAL COLLECTORS ITEM.
The record is serial number ILPS9241 on island (see photo)
The vinyl is in excellent condition with no visible scratches. The cover is also in very good condition, there is a tiny bit of wear on the very edges, however most importantly the rivet is fully functioning unlike many other copies that are on the market.
the line up on the album is as follows - VOCALS: Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer BASS: Aston Barrett DRUMS: Carlton Barrett GUITAR: Bob Marley, Peter Tosh PIANO: Peter Tosh ORGAN: Peter Tosh CONGOS: Bunny Wailer
The track listing is as follows - Concrete Jungle Slave Driver 400 Years Stop That Train Rock It Baby Stir It Up Kinky Reggae No More Trouble Midnight Ravers
A superb copy of one of the original 20,000. For the collector or true Bob Marley fan this is a real must have.
