Bob Dylan and The Band The Basement Tapes Double vinyl LP VGC+

You are  bidding on a double 12" vinyl LP copy of the legendary Bob Dylan and The Band album, The Basement Tapes.

I don't know if this is an unusual or "Rare" copy, but I have noticed that on the first disc, Side 1 is backed by Side 4 and on the second disc, Side 2 is backed by Side 3. Were all the copies like that? I honestly don't know. 

I have no idea if this is an original first pressing. No doubt the vinyl collectors checking in will know. Full details below.

This is from  my own personal collection. It hasn’t been  played for many years and I have no  means to play vinyl now. As far as I can  recall there are no issues or faults with the  playing of this album. It’s time to make some space so sadly I am selling  my vinyl collection. For the vinyl collectors looking in,  the following information is available:

Label: CBS

Year: 1975

Made in England

Catalogue No: This album seems to have more than one catalogue number. The cover shows 88147. The labels show 88147 and 80917 and S 80918. (I am not an expert in these numbers so don't ask me why)

Additional  Matrix number area information: - remembering that side 1 and 4 are on one disc and side 2 and 3 on the other disc.

Side 1 - scratched in - 88147-A2 and CBS-S-80917-A2

Side 2 - stamped in - CBS-S-88147-C1 and 80918-A1

Side 3 - scratched in - 88147-D and CBS-S-80918-B2

Side 4 - stamped in - CBS-S-88147-B1 and 80917-B1

(again, it seems odd that they scratched the number on one side and stamped it on the other and that two different numbers were given on each side). 

Stereo.

Condition: VGC+

Cover: Gatefold cover. For an album that is 38 years old, the cover is in very good condition. Front and back are clean. There is a thin white curve mark at the bottom on the front, where the albums have sat inside. There is some white shelf wear marking to the bottom but no splits. The top and spine show very little sign of wear at all. The spine is wide and all writing is clearly readable. There are a couple of very minor creases coming from the spine to the front and to the back - no more than 1cm each . A couple of small marks to the front, but very minor and non-obtrusive.

Inner sleeve: Each record is in a plain white paper inner sleeve. One of the inner sleeves has a 2cm tear at the opening.

Record: Both LP's look to be VGC+. As I say, I can't play vinyl now so the checks are visual with magnifying glass under good light. I can see some very feint hairline surface marks. They don't look significant and I don't think they will affect the playing of this album. Some light finger marking as well.

Compared with how others grade LP’s on eBay I would  say the overall package is definitely VGC+ and perhaps some might even grade higher than that. 

Describing  the condition of items is very subjective.(one man’s treasure is another man’s junk etc). I will always try to be as honest as possible in describing the  items. I  would rather be honest from the outset, than end up with a  disappointed winning  bidder. I buy  things on eBay as well and would expect the  same honesty from others.
