Description

An original Mono 1st pressing on the UK CBS label from 1964 - please bear in mind that there are earlier pressings by Philips in the UK. Matrix 1A-1/1B-1. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Garrod & Lofthouse cover with patents pending and 3 flipbacks. Also included is the original inner sleeve with patents pending. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In beautiful condition and has clearly only seen light use down the years. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. So, often with original Dylan copies you can get excited by a clean slab of vinyl only to be disappointed moments later by sub-par reproduction. A visual inspection will never deliver the goods with Dylan. You can really only ever be sure what you have when you get down to sample the audio for real. And when you finally witness a well preserved low-mileage early mono copy [like this one] it's nothing short of breathtaking. It's just the perfect medium for Dylan to deliver.. up close and personal with tremendous presence. If you get a whiff of background - it's game-over. Insist on the best preserved copy you can get your hands on. This example acquits itself admirably and most certainly well above the vast majority of surviving copies. Do expect the odd errant crackle in a few isolated moments...But this is the exception to the norm. By and large expect and enjoy clean undistorted audio from start to finish..straight outta '64!
Cover (Ex) In very impressive condition particularly considering its relative age. Lovely shiny front with an almost mirror-like effect and only three tiny thumbnail creases. The rear has escaped much of the usual fading perhaps the faintest hint in parts. Edge wear is very light and the spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains superb rigidity. You would really struggle to match this let alone go better.
Inner (Ex) No splits, no ageing or marks either. Nice!
