Bob Dylan. Saint Valentines Day Massacre & More RARE Double vinyl album Original 1974 bootleg recording HHCER 2201
Artist: Bob Dylan.
Title: Saint Valentines Day Massacre & More
Record Label: Highway High Fi (a bootleg label established by Ken Douglas as part of The Amazing Kornyfone Record Label which was was one of the first bootleg record labels in America, active from around 1973 until the late 1970s)
Catalogue HHCER 2201
Country: United States
Released: 1975
This is a recording of a live show, February 14 1974 at the Los Angeles Forum, except for the last three tracks on side four (asterisked* on the track list below) which were recorded at the Newport Folk Festival, 1965.
The side-loading cover is plain white card (no printing) and is NOT in great shape – the top and bottom seams are split and, being white, is marked and has a little ring wear. The seams are split because the cover has only a single opening, so both discs were originally together in the single opening. I have made no attempt to repair the cover because, let’s face it, you won’t be buying this for the cover. The inner sleeves are NOT original.
The disc lables are plain yellow with no printing other than the disc numbers. No spindle wear (okay, a tiny bit on side three).
Includes the original inserted printed track list (slightly faded on the right edge) which is also printed with a photo taken during the concert.
The condition of the vinyl is VG (Very Good), clean and shiny and both discs have been play tested, with the only discernible flaws being crackles (heavy in places – more noticeable on sides two and three with a few clicks halfway through side two and a few random clicks elsewhere).
Stampers:
Side one: 2201 A
Side two: 2201 B
Side three: 2201 C
Side four: 2201 D
The recording itself is as good as you’d expect from a live bootleg recording, i.e. not great, but the result is unique and pretty awesome if you’re a Dylan fan. Blowin’ in the wind (side four) is brilliant – you could be there!
