Description
Very hard to find UK pressing LP "Dick Farina & Eric Von Schmidt" (Folklore F-LEUT/7). Never released in the US, this was an impromptu recording made at a London England record store in January 1963.
Joining Farina and Von Schmidt on four tracks is Bob Dylan, billed as Blind Boy Grunt because his Columbia contract prevented his name from appearing on the album. Dylan supplied back-up vocals and harmonica on four of the 17 tracks ("Glory, Glory," "Overseas Stomp," "Xmas Island," and "Cocaine"). He doesn't provide any compositions or lead vocals but his appearance has made this a VERY collectible LP.
Also performing is Ethan Signer (of the Charles River Valley Boys) on fiddle, mandolin, and guitar. Of course, Dick Farina went on to record with his wife as Richard and Mimi Farina.
In addition to the songs mentioned above the tracklist is: Johnny Cuckoo/Jumping Judy/Old Joe's Dulcimer/Old Joe Clark, Swing And Turn, Darlin' Corey, etc/Wobble Bird/Wildwood Flower/Lonzo n' Howard/You Can Always Tell/Dry Land Blues/Stick With Me Baby/I Will Turn Your Money Green/Riddle Song/London Waltz.
The LP retains most of the original gloss with some sleeve scuffs and a few superficial scratches. The playback is crisp and clear but you should expect some surface noise and a click now and then. Nothing at all overwhelming. The glossy cover, with an Eric Von Schmidt illustration, was printed by West Brothers. It is in excellent condition with no splits, writing or cutouts. There are a couple of creases and a small portion of the clear coating is loose on the back. What appear to be “splatter marks” on the front cover are actually part of the art work.
NO reserve. I ship worldwide and will combine winning bids to save on postage. In the US, the winning bidder pays choice of media mail ($3.10) or priority shipping (based on ZIP code). Good luck!
