Description:Up for your consideration is the next in a series of unique Lps, this one a lot of four albums (5 records total) featuring an EXCELLENT! lot by Bob Dylan. The prize of this lot appears to be the Highway 61 Revisited -- Label: Columbia -- Record#: CS 9189 stereo white two-eye logo -1B -1B stampers. Internet research shows: "This has the error text on back-The promos and very first commercial copies read 'meaningful' in second to last paragraph on back and was corrected to 'meaningless' on all subsequent pressings." It books at $250 if in Near Mint condition according to the price guide I use. It has the alternate take on "From a Buick 6."

Several unique things about this item: Firstly, these discs retain the original shine with little or no visible imperfections as noted below, grading by sight in normal room light. I'm sure if you took these and put them under a 1000 watt bulb, you'd probably find something that makes them less than mint. If you're that kind of collector, let me suggest this auction is not for you.

I don't claim these records are mint. Based on past experience and visual examination, I'd expect the tracks to audibly average at least half way between VG+(excellent) and Near Mint. If you want an audio grade of an entire record (please request well in advance of the end of auction), no problem. You can then assign your own grade based on what I heard (SEE GRADING SCALE BELOW!). I did take the time previously to listen to the Highway 61. It played decently with some scattered very light to light surface noise and very light to light pops. I recall rating it around VG+(excellent). See grading scale below.

Keep in mind how it plays for me may differ how it plays for you based on differences in audio equipment.

Secondly, at the time of this listing, no past/present sales on ebay for this lot!

So this is your chance to own a unique item at a reasonable price. Bid early and often so you don't miss out on this auction!

It is further described below, please take the time to read before bidding.

Please e-mail if questions.

Be sure to check my other listings to save postage on multiple winning bids. Please explore the "me" link next to feedback rating) to check out my store and some of the 15,000+ records I have for sale as well as the LP to CD transfer service I offer.

I am using the Goldmine scale of G=Good(1), VG = Very Good(2), VG+ = Very Good Plus(excellent)(3), NM = Near Mint(4) when grading the disc(s).

Here is a summary of the record(s):

Artist: Bob Dylan Title: Highway 61 revisited Record: Black vinyl with original shine and some very light marks, grading by sight in normal room light. Labels: Red with black print in the center, white print around the border. Two white eyes. "360 Sound stereo" in white print. No stickers, some spindle marks. Name of previous owner written in ink, lightly, above the title on each side. Slight general wear. Trailing wax: Side 1: "XSM110640-1B". Side 2: "XSM110641-1B". Inner sleeves: A clear, plastic sleeve round on one edge, in fine shape. Cover: Still has about 1/2 of the shrink wrap. Bottom seam with a centered 3" seam split. This same area on the front has a 3"x1/4" piece where the top paper cover is loose, but still present. Some spotting along the lower edge. The back shows a moon-shaped light discoloration along the lower bottom edge, extending up about 3-4". The front also has a lower outer discoloration alond the edge, about 1" x 1". See the enclosed scans as a picture is worth a thousand words here. Name of previous owner back left edge. There are two mid-sized stickers on the outside of the wrap on the front. One indicates the presence of a portrait, the other advertises "featuring like a rolling stone.". Corners slightly worn, a few creased tips. Rate the cover VG at best. You can assign your own grade based on my report of the conditions. Comments: Based on past experience and visual examination as well as previous playing, I found the tracks to audibly average a bit better than VG+(excellent) with some scattered very light to light surface noise and some scattered very light to light pops. If an audio grade is provided (please request well in advance of the end of auction), you can then assign your own grade based on my comments and the scale shown below. A good addition to your LP collection. It does come with a portrait, but that shows some rippling and smudges along the lower 1/3 mostly. Nothing to write home about there. Additional criteria I use when audibly grading records for people:

  • NM(4) = absolutely nothing wrong at all (very rarely happens--I've even opened sealed records and they don't play Near Mint)
  • 3.5-3.9 = very, very light surface noise
  • 3.1-3.4 = very light surface noise, very light pops
  • VG+(3) = up to light pops and light surface noise (below this, one's enjoyment is affected, very subjective)
  • VG(2) = up to medium pops and moderate surface noise
  • G(1) = up to heavy pops and heavy surface noise

I can ship in a 14 x 14 x 6" box. Weight with box is about 3 pound 12 oz. Shipping is $4.22 Media Rate (3-4 pounds) + $1.70 box/tape/packing = $5.92.
