Description

An original 1st press of BIABH on the UK CBS label from 1965. Matrix 3A-1 & 2B-1. Note that the labels are textured and exhibit the larger font '33' - this the 1st issue. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original Ernest J Day cover with flipbacks. Also included is the original poly-line patent pending inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks per side - nothing troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback on Side 1 [the electric side!]. And mostly nearer VERYGOOD+ level on side 2 [acoustic!] with a couple of deviations. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. Not clean enough to hit the top grades, but by and large a very solid rendition. Side 1 is a great player with little issue. Side 2 has possibly seen a bit more use. I'm detecting a bit of background in 'Its Alright Ma' & 'Gates of Eden'. Nothing invasive or distracting. It's just that they're not going to play clean like the majority of other tracks. In addition, I detected 5 or 6 clicks toward the end of 'Gates of Eden'. Overall a super sounding early copy. Dylan really couldn't put a foot wrong in the sixties...class!
Cover (Ex-) In great shape and has survived those years in much better form than many other examples. Lovely shiny white front with only a couple of creases and a tiny tear [5mm] at the opening. The rear seems to have avoided most of the usual that often afflicts these early cover. A touch of light evidence in places, but very nice! Please note there's a couple of slight stickers in the top left corner. All the flipbacks are intact and secure. The text on the spine is all still legible with just a touch of dirt in a couple of spots. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A beautiful original specimen.
Inner (Vg+) A bit aged. But no splits.
