You are bidding on a 2 LP live album from Bob Dylan, “Live At Budokan,” recorded in Tokyo in the Winter of 1978. Released in 1979, (Columbia CBS PC2 36067), it has drastically rearranged versions of his classic songs, including a breathtaking slow version of “Tangled Up In Blue.”  This album is not going to make anyone forget the 1960’s tours with the Band, but it has grown in stature over the years. The early versions of this 2 LP set included a huge color poster.  (See Photos)

We purchased this item back in the late 1970’s, and it has been sitting in our home (vertically) for the last few decades. 

The LPs are in excellent condition, and the LP cover (Gatefold) looks great. The foldout poster is in great condition.  (See Photos).

“A truly underrated album. Dylan reinvents his classic songs yet again in new ways. The band is large, with a horn section and a backing choir. It might take the spontaneity and subtlety out of the songs, but it replaces them with swagger, a big sound, and a sense of scale that that original studio versions did not have.
If you expect Dylan to still be the angry young man of the mid sixties, you'll be disappointed. But if you want to hear a season artist revisiting his catalogue of classic songs and finding ways to make them new and interesting, you can't go wrong with this set.”

“This is an album that the critics were always going to hate and seemingly still do. Dylan post '68 will never be good enough for them.

This album made me a Dylan fan. And every time I go back to it, I still love it. This is an artist having FUN with his catalogue. Enjoying playing music that has been (perhaps/almost) thrashed to death by him, and others.

Some of the cuts on here ("I Want You", "Shelter From the Storm", "Oh, Sister") are, if not definitive, then very, very close to it.
