What is this, exactly? Good question. First of all, I've owned this record for about two years, but have only found minimal information on the internet. This particular LP was purchased from a gentleman who was originally from Jacksonville, FL. I've been monitoring E-Bay and other websites, but the only Alan Franklin record that I've seen traded is # JC-888 on the Horne label.

However, this album is definitely catalog # JC-333, and has a completely different label and (silkscreened?) cover. In addition, the credits on the back cover are completely different. For instance, this record credits Alan Franklin as doing all vocals and guitars, while Ray Vaughn is credited with handling all the drums/percussion.  After listening to the LP, we are reasonably certain that there are only two musicians contributing to this music on this album.  It sounds like a guitar and drums, and during the titular track, a short harmonica solo.

One thing you may notice is that the songs listed on the cover do NOT match the songs that seem to be on the record. According to the cover, the songs on this LP are:

We do not own a copy of JC-888, but at least some of the songs on this LP are clearly different. These mixes are rawer, and have an incredible no-fi/garage rock vibe.

Very little is widely known about this album. One website even claims that only three copies are in existence, although there is no way that we've been able to verify that.  The only references we have been able to locate to this particular version of the album are very scarce, and claim that this is the precursor to the Horne JC-888 release.

Matrix numbers on the record are as follows: (Side 1) = JC-333-7, S-1, and the number 84 (Side 2) = JC-333-7, S-2, and the number 84.

The record weighs 150 grams, and is generally in great shape. There are only a few surface marks, but no real scratches. There is a small mark about 4/5 of the way into "Climax" on side two, but my turntable plays through it just fine with very minimal noise. The cover has held up quite well, overall. All four corners are slightly rounded. The back cover does have a little bit of ring wear and smudging. There are also some abrasions above the words "The Brave New World Blues Climax", but they do not go all the way through the cardboard.

The back cover features testimonials by Albert Freeman of "Penetration Sound Publishing" and Paul Dixon (real name Paul Gonzalez) of WFLA in Tampa.
