Reluctant sale of one of the great hard bop jazz albums, a heavyweight lineup makes this a must for all jazz and Blue Note collectors. Truly masterful session by one of the finest jazz lineups ever. This is the essence of jazz, part of that brief but storied late 50s post bepob captured by Blue Note, and these men, this is one of the big ones! Starting price is the reserve as this rarely turns up at all, let alone in this condition. Vinyl is EX - under strong light there is a very light dusting of hairlines and some other very fine, light entirely superficial marks that don't detract from the overall high gloss of the album on both sides, lovely sheen and playback is immaculate, lush mono depth, no ticks, static, jumps etc at all. I try to grade every detail as I am a serious collector myself. It has been played but very well cared for, there are dusting of sporadic handling scuff type hairlines but absolutely nothing feelable at all, the vinyl is so good but under strong light there are some of these aforementioned marks evident. The cover is equally as good, as you can see from the pictures, the spine, seams, and corners are incredible, sharp and tight, the front graphics striking, there appears to be a smudge in the art above Johnny's ear but it is a pressing mark, under the laminate which is in remarkable condition. The laminate is lifted very discreetly on the opening edges, but it's very minor, at most .3mm and as I said it is very discreet. The back has some storage pressing marks that have caused some darkening around the edges, almost a fine age tan and some other age and faint dirt spots, also export stickers as you can see but the full integrity of the cover is a joy to hold. Overall it's a heavy beauty, some very minor issues bring it off NM for both. This is the real deal, double sided deep groove (one pic isn't clear but the deep groove is both sides) , ear 'P' both sides, New York 23 pressing.

I should have added, and thanks to the buyer who asked and helped, that this also has the hand etched RVG in both sides of the dead wax and the beaded rim which makes this a genuine first pressing.
