Blue Cheer: Vincebus Eruptum LP, Vinyl, Philips 1968
Blue Cheer was an American rock band that initially performed and recorded in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Based in San Francisco, Blue Cheer played in a psychedelic blues rock or acid rock style.
Vincebus Eruptum (/vɪŋˈkeɪbəs ɪˈrʌptəm/; pseudo-Latin) is the debut album of American rock band Blue Cheer. Released on January 16, 1968, the album features a heavy-thunderous blues sound, which would later be known as heavy metal. A commercial and critical success, peaked at number 11 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and spawned the number 14 hit cover of Eddie Cochran's "Summertime Blues".
There were no big ugly noises in rock’n’roll before Blue Cheer. They created sonic brutality, coiling their teenage angst into an angry fist of sludge and feedback and hurling it at stunned, stoned hippies like a wave of mutilation.
This is the original, UK Philips pressing from 1968 (see pictures).
