Although it came out in 1978 or 1979, Quarters to Dollars was recorded in 1976. You can tell that this rare bootleg LP didn't come out until at least 1978 because the Allied label reprints a magazine article that was published not long before the release of 1978's Parallel Lines. Quarters to Dollars' liner notes let you know that it was recorded in 1976, but unfortunately, they don't tell you where it was recorded, nor do they give any exact recording dates. Most of the LP consists of club performances of songs from Blondie's first album, including "X Offender," "In the Flesh," "Rip Her to Shreds," "In the Sun," "Little Girl Lies" and "Look Good in Blue." Also provided are television performances of "X Offender" and "In the Sun" (the liner notes don't tell us what the program was). This piece of vinyl, which offers a generally decent sound quality, takes us back to a time when Blondie had only a small following andGary Valentine was still on bass. As frustrating and inadequate as this bootleg's liner notes are, the sound quality and rockin' performances make for an enjoyable look at early Blondie.
