HOW I HAVE GRADED MY VINYL RECORDS

I have not had time to play the records as I have many, but I have visually graded them as follows:

MINT (M)

Vinyl – Appears new and unplayed.

Sleeve – Appears perfect and may still be sealed.

Label – Perfect.

NEAR MINT (NR)

Vinyl – Nearly perfect, has been played a few times and may have a few light scratches.

Sleeve – Only minor creases.

Label – Nr perfect.

EXCELLENT (EX)

Vinyl - An Excellent record will show signs that it was played and handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces will show some signs of wear and have slight scuffs or light scratches that wouldn’t affect your listening experience.

Sleeve - Will have some slight wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam split. In general, if not for a couple things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint. All but the most mint-crazy collectors will find an Excellent record highly acceptable.

Label - May have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable.

VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+)

Vinyl - Will show some signs that it was played but has been well cared for by a previous owner. Record surfaces will show some signs of wear and have scuffs and/or light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are "OK".

Sleeve - Will have some wear but will not be spoiled by writing or sticker damage.

Label - May have some ring wear or discoloration.

VERY GOOD (VG)

Vinyl - Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG record. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.

Sleeve - May have creases, small tears/seam splits and may be marred by writing and sticker damage.

Labels - May be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached.

GOOD PLUS (G+)

Vinyl - A record in Good Plus condition will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear. 

Sleeve - May have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm it. 

Labels - May be torn, marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached.

PLEASE BE WARNED! If you buy a record in this condition it is going to be a risk. Some will play better than they look whilst others may play worse than you expect.

GOOD (G)

Vinyl - A record in Good condition will have been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated. May crackle, pop or make other annoying sounds.  It's possible that the record won't play through without skipping or repeating.

Sleeve - May be water damaged, split on all three seams, heavily marred by wear and writing or other defects which will start to overwhelm it. .

Labels - May be torn, marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached.

PLEASE BE WARNED! If you buy a record in this condition it is going to be a risk.  Some will play better than they look whilst others may play worse than you expect.

N.B. In the unlikely event that you are unsatisfied with the record, then I will refund, less the cost of postage
