Rare original version of the outer cover which has a textured silk finish

Condition (1-5) Vinyl / Cover = 5.00/4.00

Notes. Being extra critical due to value: Cover marked down mainly for a small area of light scuffing / discolouration to the front (about 1 cm round and in the black margin of the cover – not particularly noticeable) and a knock to one of the seams which has creased it slightly for about 1 inch. Otherwise a nice cover with  little wear. Label on one side of the record is lightly discoloured / mottled. Vinyl itself in superb condition for a record of 35 years old – despite looking closely and tilting in strong light I can find only a couple of  barely visible marks which are super light and totally superficial . Looks very lightly played with a nice dark gloss.

A super sought after original UK vinyl pressing on the nems label from 1975. Unless you can find an unplayed / sealed copy (good luck!) you will be very hard pushed to find the vinyl in better condition anywhere!

Background info: Sabotage was released on 28 July 1975 and was probably Sabbaths heaviest Album. It had favourable reviews, with Rolling Stone stating "Sabotage is not only Black Sabbath's best record since Paranoid, it might be their best ever", later reviewers such as All Music said that "the magical chemistry that made such albums as Paranoid and Volume 4 so special was beginning to disintegrate". Sabotage cracked the top 20 in the United Kingdom and peaked at number 28 in the United States. It was certified Silver in the UK by the BPI on 1 December 1975 and Gold in the US on 16 June 1997, but was the band's first release not to achieve platinum status in the US. Songs such as "Hole in the Sky", and "Symptom of the Universe" became fan favourites, with the latter's chugging riff even cited as an early example of thrash metal. For my money their best release and if you are a thrash fan or like things on the heavier side then you’ll probably agree.

Grading:

 I will be grading critically to avoid disappointment. (scale at bottom of page) My collection of hundreds is generally in excellent condition but in my experience there is no such thing as a used record that has no marking at all, if you chose to look closely enough!  Hence nothing will be described as mint or near mint.

*I’m not a dealer. This is my personal collection. Nearly all owned from new.

*I no longer have a record player so have assessed all records visually. I’ve been in contact with e-bayers who have already bought. They are very pleased with condition compared to what they expected from the grading and report excellent sound quality even from records listed as having heavier damage – collection seems to have aged very well!

*Buy with confidence. I’m happy to refund if unexpected problems arise on playing or I’ve missed something major (refund less postage on return of item within 7 days)

*Records haven’t been played for over 10 years have had a quick wipe only - will benefit from a good clean before playing.

Grading Scale:

Vinyl

5 = Minimal light superficial surface scratches / marks that are only visible when tilted under strong light. Expect no impact on audio. 4 = A few light surface marks / scratches. A couple may be more visible but all still superficial. May include 1 small slightly heavier mark affecting a single track only. Still expect no or minimal impact on audio. 3 = Some heavier marks / scratches. Expect them to be audible and slightly detract from the overall listening experience. 2 = Heavy scratches / marks. Expect to hear pronounced and distracting clicks or cracks on at least couple of tracks. 1 = Several heavy scratched / marks / other damage. Expect several tracks to be affected and a couple to the extent that they may be considered unlistenable. However should still play through.

Covers

5 = Hardly any wear of any description. Maybe slightest of wear to very tip of a corner or a very light small crease or two. 4 = Some general light wear and maybe a small area of moderate wear. Includes seam wear (spine still readable), light creasing restricted to edges, slight discolouration (but not damage) from a removed stickers, maybe 1 slightly crumpled corner. 3 = Moderate general wear plus 1 piece of damage such as a rip, seam split, heavily folded corner, major scuff on  front / back, patch of surface removed by sticker or very noticeable ringwear. 2 = Heavy general wear plus one or two pieces of damage. 1 = Several major issues – very tatty.

Inner covers

5 = Hardly any wear of any description. Maybe a couple of small spots of light discolouration or a very light and small crease or two. 4 = Discolouration, general light wear, light creasing. 3 = Moderate general wear plus 1 piece of damage such a seam split or heavily folded corner. 2 = Heavy general wear plus one or two pieces of damage. 1 = Several major issues – very tatty. Not graded = bog standard blank inner sleeve.
