Description
Black Sabbath Self-Titled Debut 1970 1st US Press Green Labels VG/VG-.
For auction is a very good listeners copy of the self-titled debut of the British heavy metal band and genre pioneers, Black Sabbath. Released in February 1970, the album is considered by many as the first heavy metal record. It was a commercial and critical success. It peaked at #8 on the UK Album Charts and at #23 on the Billboard 200 in the US. It has been certified platinum in the US with a million copies sold and is often on lists of greatest albums ever. In 2020 in ranked #355 on Rolling Stone’s list of “500 Greatest Albums of All Time. This copy is a 1st Pitman Press.
Vinyl is play graded VG. Some light visible surface marks but nothing deep. Plays with mild background noise at times that is never overwhelming. No skips or jumps. Please see pics.
Cover is in VG- condition. Considerable shelf wear on corners and seams. There is tape on the top right over a split that is about two inches. Another piece along the title edge on top over peeling. Title is mostly legible. Peeling also exists on other edges as well as the lower right corner on front. Small rip along open edge in middle of front. Fading, scratches and ring wear on both sides. Despite all this still very solid and looks pretty good. Original Warner Bros inner is included but a white generic die-cut is used to protect vinyl. Please see pics.
Good luck bidding and thank you for looking!!
