Description

An original 1st press of Paranoid on the Vertigo label. Matrix 1/1. Please note that the labels are consistent with 1st press and exhibit the LARGE VERTIGO SWIRL above the spindle hole. In addition, please note that the "P 1970" date appears above the  "33 1/3" speed on the labels. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover - please note there is NO MENTION of the Big Bear credit. So, whilst this is a 1st issue cover from the first month or two of release - it is not the very very earliest version to be found. Also included is the original Vertigo swirl inner sleeve date coded to '0970' - the month of 1st release. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex) In superb condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks both sides, two superficial very low-level trails, and one tiny mark which causes an isolated tick - considerably better than many that surface. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback. A blindingly good rendition with really very nice clean audio - this is superior to most copies that typically surface. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. I haven't heard many true 1st pressings play this sweet - it stands testament to just how good those early Vertigo pressings were. Interference is very limited in nature and infrequent. Even "Planet Caravan" the really low-key track plays pretty clean - and that's not an easy find. You might detect a couple of low-level crackles occasionally, but by and large this is about as good as it is realistically possible to go. There's one isolated tick in 'Electric Funeral'. A highly recommended copy of this Sabbath classic at 1st press.
Cover (Ex) Again, a real tricky cover to find in top level condition. So many copies surface looking quite worse for wear. I have to say that this particular example is in very rude health. That front lies very nice and flat and is only exhibiting very light handling wear - jet black without discolouration. It's a similar story on the rear very nice jet black with a touch of handling wear at the foot - and one thumbnail crease. The interior looks superb with none of the usual ageing, wear, or marking. Edge wear is light for this title and the spine is nearly all intact. The text is all still legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A very fine specimen indeed.
Inner (Vg+) Bit of ageing at the opening n one or two age spots. One side split has been taped up. And there's a 1c.m. split the other side.
