## Master of Reality is the third studio album by English heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released in the United Kingdom on 6 August 1971 by Vertigo Records. It is regarded by some critics as the foundation of doom metal, stoner rock, and sludge metal. Produced by Rodger Bain, who also produced the band's prior two albums, Master of Reality was recorded at Island Studios in London from February to April 1971. Guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler downtuned their instruments during the production, achieving what Iommi called a "bigger, heavier sound". Master of Reality peaked at number five on the UK Albums Chart and number eight on the US Billboard 200. Though negatively received by critics on release, the album is now considered one of the greatest heavy metal albums of all time. It was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) after having sold over two million copies in the US. ##
Condition Report The Vinyl is described as VG+/EX & I shall explain this grading in detail so please read carefully. Side 1. Track 1. Sweet Leaf has 3 x minor skips in it's first 30 seconds. There are no other skips anywhere else. The reason for the skip is beyond me... maybe I need a new cartridge... you see there are no feelable scratches anywhere on this vinyl... there are some very fine sleeve marks & other near invisible hair-lines to both sides... but nothing of any significance. However, these 3 small skips happen... there are no stops and the quality of the play-back on every other second of play on both sides is fantastic. Several spindle marks to both labels. There are a reasonable number of fine hairlines & sleeve marks to both sides of the record. The Vinyl has retained much of its rich waxy lustre. The Laminated Cover is described as VG but it presents easily to VG+. There is some visible edge/spine & corner-wear. There are some fine cracks to spine & edges with associated wrinkles. There is some minor ring wear to front & verso. There are some colour losses to edges & spine. Both edges & spine have been nicely taped but no seam splits. The rear cover has 3 visible tears which have been repaired by tape internally & externally. A few minor stains here & there.
