Description

This is a new-to-market copy of the RARE Pre-release Promo copy of Black Sabbath's Paranoid. On this LP the boys arguably kicked off the genre that took over the world as Heavy Metal. "AllMusic's Steve Huey  cited Paranoid as "one of the greatest and most influential heavy metal albums of all time", which  "defined the sound and style of heavy metal more than any other record in rock history". Blender Magazine called it "the greatest metal album of all time."
With this one here you are getting a bit of true metal history. This is the promo version that hit the airwaves, and critics, before the common version hit the record shops. Imagine being able to listen to "Iron Man" on an LP that led to it becoming a Heavy metal anthem that has transcended the decades, and generations! This is also the version that lists "Jack the Stripper" right before "Fairies Wear Boots". That labeling was deleted for the versions that made it to the public.
The cover has some of the usual wear associated with this black double-fold that just happens to show every little blemish, but it is still very presentable, and this one has the bonus of having the Promo label on the bottom front that states, "Warner Bros. Records Radio Station Service", and a listing all of the tracks, and timing info. I have included a few photos so that you can get an idea of how it looks for yourself. There is no splitting to the seams.
The vinyl still retains most of its original gloss, and plays nicely, with but the slightest wear that you'll be hard-pressed to hear over Ozzy's howling vocals, and Iommi's thunderous licks. There are a couple small, faint scuff marks on the outer edge, on War Pigs, but they did not affect my listening to it on my turntable at all. The white promo labels on both sides are absolutely white, clean, and stunning.
This DJ version does not show up very often, and when it does it usually disappears after a flurry of mosh-pit-type bidding. Starting at $9.99 here is your chance to get this rariry in your hands! If you are either the ultimate Sabbath completist, or are shooting to snag everything that was a major influence in rock, and Heavy Metal, then this rarity will definitely fit the bill!
I will ship this with the vinyl in a separate bag, other than in the sleeve, to ensure that no possible movement during shipping could damage the sleeve.
(The speck that you can see at the right, on the promo label in the first pic is *not* on the label itself. It must have been something that took a hike between this, and the next pic.)
