Black Oak Arkansas - Keep the Faith LP


Black Oak Arkansas is an American Southern rock band named after the band's hometown of Black Oak, Arkansas. The band reached the height of its fame in the 1970s with ten charting albums released in that decade. Keep the Faith, their second album was released in the US in January 1972 on the Atco label followed by a UK release on the Atlantic label. The album reached No.103 on Billboard but failed to chart in Britain. The band recently reformed and released a new album in 2013.
Keep the Faith has an unusual gatefold sleeve design by Les Weisbrich. Two fold-out flaps on the front cover reveal a landscape photo of Arkansas and song lyrics. For collectors of 70s rock and unique album covers it is an strikingly original and beautiful example. 
What makes this issue even rarer is that while the LP is a UK pressing, the sleeve is the original US issue. A sticker on the back covering the US Atco label details, gives the UK Atlantic release no: K40326. Aficionados will know that US record sleeves were generally higher quality and better wearing as they were made of stiffer cardboard.
