The Freedom Train was an idea of U.S. Attorney General Tom C. Clark, who was later named to the U.S. Supreme Court. The Freedom Train visited 322 Communities all 48 States,
in 413 Days, collecting 3,500,000 signatures from visitors. These signatures are preserved on 31 original scrolls at the National Archives in College Park, Maryland.
