Description
Here is probably the rarest USA vinyl pressing of a Billy Joel LP.
Only a very few survived after the recall when all copies were recalled and destroyed by Columbia Records label.
Back in 1980 I owned a record store and sold all kinds of Audiphile quality vinyl LP'S.
I ordered two copies of Billy Joel The Stranger Columbia Records Half-Speed Master vinyl LP.
When the LP'S arrived I took one home for myself as I consider myself an audiophile.
I put on my Koss headphones and dropped the needle to side one of the LP and to my amazement the LP was NOT in Stereo but a sorta Mono mix.
I called my Columbia Records rep and she said she just got a memo from the pressing plant about the error in the pressing and she told me I would have to return any unsold copies and that they would be destroyed.
So I sold the only other copy I had and kept the one I had for myself ever since 1980.

I only played the LP a few times in near mint condition.
