although I cannot confirm that it is still Unopened as it is quite easy to remove these stickers and reseal them without others knowing.

Half Speed Mastering. Half speed mastering refers to the speed of mastering the original recording onto the master lacquer, which is then used to make the masters that press each LP.

Many standard LPs are mastered at standard speed, which means that the master tape moves at the same speed as the original recording session and the master lacquer moves at 33 13 rpm.

In contrast, it is also possible to run each of these machines at half speed. As a result, there is twice as much time for the cutting stylus to cut every possible detail and delicate groove modulation, resulting in LPs where you can hear details and nuances on your favourite albums that you never heard before. Furthermore, mastering at half speed uses less power and as a result the cutting head amplifiers use only one fourth as much power, resulting in much greater head room, better dynamic range, frequency response and lower distortion. This is another reason why resulting audiophile LPs can sound much closer to the sound of the original recording in comparison to standard LPs.

The Stranger contained nine songs, many of which are now considered "classic Joel." "Movin' Out," "She's Always a Woman," "Just The Way You Are," "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant," "Everybody Has A Dream," and "Only The Good Die Young" were all written prior to recording, while "Vienna," "The Stranger," and "Get It Right The First Time" all came from short tunes or fragments of songs that Joel finished in the studio.

Each song had stories attached to it.

The seven-and-a-half-minute epic "Scenes From an Italian Restaurant" began as the shorter "Ballad of Brenda and Eddie," a section that now forms the third part of the song. Joel came up with the signature whistle line which he whistled to producer Phil Ramone, claiming that he needed to find an instrument to play it. Ramone replied: "No, you don't. That's 'The Stranger,' the whistling."

The aforementioned whistling at the opening and closing of Joel's "The Stranger" was, consciously or unconsciously, inspired by the Alessandro Alessandroni's (Italian composer of film scores) tune of the same name.

This is one classic album and you can own the Half speed mastered version giving you a much improved listening experience by hearing sounds on the classic album that you may never have heard before even on the CD version.

The condition of the album is essentially Mint as I have bought it but I have noticed a some slight damage to the topseam where the disc has started to come through the sleeve. This damage is minimal and does not detract from the whole item.
