Description
Up for consideration is a very rare and unique copy of "ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK" by BILL HALEY AND HIS COMETS which was pressed in 1955 on the black DECCA LABEL. This is an extremely RARE 10" record which was a COLOMBIA, SOUTH AMERICA (BOGATA- SEE PICTURES) pressing and was the only 10" pressing of 'ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK" produced. (per DISCOGS listing) In fact there were only 1 or 2 other 10" records (33's) that were ever produced for this early rock/rockabilly artist. A very unique feature displayed is that the title on the label for the record is "SHAKE, RATTLE AND ROLL" vs the cover title of " ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK". ( Even though both the cover and the label have the same number of DL 5560 ) The record includes four tracks on both sides-most of his early hits. The vinyl is a shiny VG+ displaying scuffing but still in remarkably nice condition. The cover I would grade as a STRONG VG with some moderate wear. There is a 2 inch split on the verticle seam which can be repaired easily. Also a name written on the back cover, but overall the cover still displays respectfully for a 64 year old piece of cardboard. The labels are very nice (NM) and are close to pristine! If you are into the early ROCK/ROCKABILLY SCENE, this is a very rare and hard to find offering that is now at this point in time probably a one of a kind which is never seen available in the marketplace!
