Bill Haley And His Comets, Disc Jockey PROMOTIONAL 78rpm of : ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK b/w Thirteen Women. This 78 came from a Northern DJ's collection that wound up in an estate sale. As seen in the photos, he had a rubber stamp that he stamped his name on BOTH sides of the labels. Some say that it takes AWAY in it's value, others say that it ADDS authenticity to it. YOU be the judge of that. All I DO KNOW is this is a SUPER RARE piece of Rock 'n Roll HISTORY.
Some R&R historians say THIS was the ORIGIN of Rock 'n Roll, while most relate ELVIS PRESLEY to be the one who STARTED the revolution, but in all fairness, THIS 78 came BEFORE Elvis released, "That's All Right Mama " for SUN Records in Memphis, Tennessee in 1954.
With all that being said, the labels are a nice, vibrant dark PINKISH color with black print. The shellac vinyl has a few superficial scuffs that DO NOT AFFECT the play on either side, but there are a couple of small scratches shown in the photos that are VERY LIGHTLY audible when played but there are NO SKIPS at 78 rpm, only a light tick as the needle goes across them.
I'd give this SUPER RARE jewel a STRONG VG to VG+. You have to remember also that this IS a 65 year old SURVIVOR from the BEGINNING of the Rock & Roll Era !!
