Description
Here’s a rare one – Big Star’s #1 Record on vinyl, this is the original first press issue on Ardent! Even better, this is signed on the back cover by bassist extraordinaire, Andy Hummel (Andy sadly died of cancer in 2010).
Andy signed several Big Star items for me, including this one back in 2001. I’m trying to clear out some duplicates from my collection, so here’s a chance to grab a super rarity! This would be a legendary Christmas present for that Big Star lover in your life. Please read condition information below.
Condition:
Cover: VG+, front cover is very glossy, shows some signs of wear on all edges as seen in the photos. Heavy duty, glossy cardboard. There is a cutout (promo?) hole in the upper right hand corner. Spine is decent, some wear can be seen in the photos and the lower left hand corner of the cover has the most wear, and is beginning to split. Back cover has a tear in the mid bottom, but appears to have been glued nicely. Andy’s signature is in pen above the photo of the band on the back cover. Either side would look great framed.
Record: Conservatively graded G, has many small surface scratches and a couple of larger ones (none appear to be very deep scratches though). Plays VG-, noisy and has a lot of surface noise but no skips. Behind all that surface noise, you can tell this is a great sounding record! But if you’re looking for an audiophile experience, please look elsewhere – I would expect if anyone buys this LP they’d be buying it only for the autographed cover.
Labels look very nice, with some wear around the spindle hole on side 2. Deadwax etchings are: A: STXS-0178-2 AS-0401 ADS-2803 17069 (there is also a small Big Star logo in the etching!) B: STXS-0261-1 AS-0406-RR-Rc-2 L. NIX PRUDENCE 17213 (1)
