Up for bid is a rare 7" EP, "Big Jay McNeely, Vol 2." This was released by Federal (EP-301) in 1954. For more info about Big Jay McNeely, go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Jay_McNeely. Songs contained on this EP are Mule Milk / Hot Cinders / Ice Water / Whipped Ceam. EP is a solid VG+, with a couple of tiny light scuffs on side one (with Mule Milk and Hot cinders). Interior labels are "silver topped" green labels. There is a pressing defect - there is a tiny bubble that appears in the vinyl on the second song of each side and another tiny bubble that appears in the song "Mule Milk" on side 1 one. There is some surface noise - crackle and tics (no skips) - sounds great! Just for fun - when I was listening to this EP, I noticed that a few riffs in the song "Mule Milk" had possibly been used in (or the inspiration for) some of the music on the film "Back to the Future 1" (during the part before George McFly runs out of the "Enchantment Under the Sea" dance to save Lorraine). (I know, I'm a geek....but I love that movie!) For reference, you can hear this song on youtube (not from this actual EP). Etched matrix info reads FEP-203 / FEP-204-X1. Cardboard picture sleeve is VG+, with one seam split about two inches long in the center of the bottom seam. This area has been reinforced with clear tape (see pictures). This is a top loader jacket. There are some small spots of light discoloration of the front of the sleeve (see pictures). Picture sleeve is very clean. The front color remains bright and the front also retains a nice gloss. This EP comes from a great collection of rare 45s and 7" EPs that we recently acquired. Keep watching, because there is more to come!
