Beverly Kenney Sings for Johnny Smith (Roost LP 2206) Beverly Kenney was considered one of the greatest and most promising new jazz singers of the mid-'50s, but died tragically very soon into her career, leaving behind only three recordings as leader. This beautiful and intimate recording dates from 1956, and has Kenney fronting a small jazz combo with guitarist Johnny Smith, pianist Bob Pancoast, bassist Knobby Totah, and Mousie Alexander on percussion. Kenney's vocal style was pure jazz cool ala Helen Merrill and Julie London, but really quite unique in her surprising phrasing. This is a very rare 1st pressing, priced low due to grade.
Record grade: G+. Numerous scuffs and scratches and groove wear here and there, but nothing too bad. Still and enjoyable listen
Cover notes: Standard laminated heavy board jacket, with partial split bottom seam, taped top seam, and some paper loss on spine and cover.

G (Good): The record will have heavy wear, with very apparent surface and background noise. A plus or minus may be given, if notable.

Shipping: All records will be shipped in a sturdy, reinforced cardboard box mailer, with record and cover protected in plastic sleeve. Standard shipping will be via USPS media mail, at cost of $4.00. Priority mail also available, at cost of $10.00. Save on combined shipping when additional records are purchased. For additional records, $1.00 will be added to initial shipping cost.
