Description

Jubilee 1011 black label includes oval logo with colored spikes around the edge, deep groove. The record was issued in 1955. St. Claire sings on 12 tracks. The tunes are mostly standards. Her style recalls the best jazz singers like Betty Carter and others wlth great voice control. She is accompanied by Hal McKusick, reed, Phil Sunkel, trumpet; Billy Byers arranger; Gene DiNovi, piano; Jimmy Raney, Barry Galbraith, guitars; Eddie Swanson piano; Addison Farmer, bass and others unidentified. St. Claire sang with Dizzy Gillespie in 1949. I believe this is the rare 12" edition. Cover: VG+ 3" top edge split; 1" bottom edge split. Partial record ring on the top of the front cover. Small scratch at the botton of front cover. Record: VG++ to Mint(-) Visually shows no wear. There are about 4 light surface rub marks that vary in length. Except for a few very light, infrequent clicks and a very small amount of light groove noise (These are audible on 1 or 2 tracks only), no other surface noise. All over fine condition. I have included the VG++ in the rating to account for the small amount of described surface noise. This is an unusually fine Jubilee pressing. Heavy vinyl. Audibly checked.
