Description
This auction is for a Capitol records boxed set featuring the Hollywood String Quartet performing Beethoven's Late Quartets at the Edinburgh Festival 1957.
Unfortunately the condition of the first disc is quite poor with 3/4 noticeable surface marks on the first side and a 5cm hairline mark on the other. The other 4 discs could pass for VG, but due to the first disc I have conservatively graded the set as G+. All discs are housed in original Capitol FDS inner sleeves most of which have small seam splits. The set includes the booklet which is in VG+ condition, no heavy wear. The box is a little rubbed / discoloured in places and has a 6cm split to the top edge, but otherwise structurally fine.
The main reason for listing is the Edinburgh International Festival programme which was sold at the Freemasons hall. The programme has Felix Slatkins name and address written on the front and is Signed inside "to Hugh & Elizabeth with Warmest regards the Hollywood String Quartet" it then includes the signatures of Felix Slatkin, Paul Shure, Alvin Dinkin and Eleanor Aller.
