Description
You are bidding on a gorgeous copy of Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major. Backhaus. The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt. Decca FFSS Stereophonic SXL 2010. Made in England. 1958.
This is an original UK Stereo 1st Pressing issued in 1958, has “Original Recording” at 10 o’clock, and has the Decca groove running around the label (WBG ED1). This is the very earliest pressing of this record and comes with THE BLUE BORDER ON THE BACK OF THE SLEEVE (see photos). It also has the date above the catalogue number and there is no mention of the playing speed. Apparently, the next batch of these pressed, which are still ED1, had the date below the catalogue number and speed 33 1/3 was written on the left side.
Record is in wonderful condition, with just the rarest light surface mark visible only in the strongest light! Original Decca FFSS vinyl-lined inner sleeve!
Stamper numbers: ZAL-4041-1E and ZAL-4042-1E
Jacket also in excellent condition, with no splits or stains or major flaws. Just a touch of corner wear, a few negligible light creases, and a bit of natural ring wear that’s typical of these flexible European covers. Also, taped number on bottom front. Overall, very very nice!!
No reserve! Happy bidding and good luck!!
