Description

A 12” vinyl double compilation album covering the best of the Bee Gees’ R&B / disco period from 1975-79. Features 20 tracks (see list below) including all the group’s major and minor hits through this period, and also some tracks which were originally recorded by the Bee Gees but which became hits for other artists who did cover versions. All of the tracks recorded by the group for the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack are included, and all are in their full length original album versions.

The presentation of the album is quite lavish, comprising a stylish glossy white ‘triple gatefold’ sleeve, with large portrait photos of each of the 3 group members, and also individual colour photos of the lads on the disc labels. A colour leaflet advertising all the band’s main albums from the 1970s is also included. Catalogue number is RSO RSDX 001.

I have owned this copy of the album since it came out in late 1979 and it has been played only a few times (before being taped for listening in car), and has been carefully stored unused for over 30 years. The vinyl discs are in immaculate condition, with no marks or signs of wear at all and no audible damage of any kind. The album cover is in almost immaculate condition, apart from a very minor and hardly visible thumb crease on the front.

Track listing as follows:

Disc 1 - Jive talkin’ / Night fever / Tragedy / You should be dancing / Stayin’ alive / How deep is your love / Love so right / Too much heaven / (Our love ) Don't throw it all away / Fanny (be tender with my love)

Disc 2 - If I can’t have you / You stepped into my life / Love me / More than a woman / Rest your love on me / Nights on Broadway / Spirits having flown / Love you inside out / Wind of change / Children of the world

Altogether a really good representation of the Bee Gees’ most successful period of recording, with numerous classic hits and many other lesser known but very appealing tracks.

If sent through the post, the album will be very carefully packaged, but to minimise any risk collection would also be welcome (near Church Stretton, south Shropshire).
