Description
For sale is Bee Gees' 1st, originally released in 1967 by ATCO Records, a division of Atlantic Recording Corporation. This release has the original ATCO tan and purple labels, which were found on albums between 1961-68, and indicates a first edition. In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks are the matrix numbers 1-B/1-B, followed by "CT" and "T", indicating that an early stamper was used to make this first edition that was pressed at Columbia Record's Terre Haute, Indiana pressing plant. These are hallmarks of state-of-the-art engineering, sought after by collectors and music lovers for their superior sound. I bought this used, professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17, then immediately put the record into a MFSL archival inner sleeve. This protects the integrity of the vinyl and any original inner sleeve(s) or insert(s) that may have come with the release. The inner sleeve is Excellent with some wrinkles. The cover is graded as G+ because of corner blunts, ring wear, edge rubs and a 6" seam split on the cover's upper right hand seam. The vinyl is visually graded as VG+ because of faint sleeve marks and minor surface scratches. It's play-graded between VG+ and Excellent because of an occasional tick or pop along with some very low level surface noise, most noticeable during the quiet sections of playback. This is one of the best copies of this out of print record that I have ever seen or heard and you would be hard pressed to find a first edition in this condition ever again. This would make a great addition to anyone's collection. I have more Rock and Roll records, as well as albums of all genres in my Ebay store. Please take a look. They're predominately Near Mint. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative.
