Beatles James Taylor PROMO Apple 45 Carolina ON My Mind Error, NM!

I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…

This was only the second U.S. Apple promo 45 issued, and they both had errors.  Jackie Lomax’ “Sour Milk Sea” credited the writing of the B-Side, “The Eagle Laughs at You” to George.  This James Taylor copy of his debut single, “Carolina in my Mind” was mistakenly sent to radio stations as “Carolina On my Mind.”  By the way, both George and Paul play on this version, as opposed to the remake a few years later.

It’s also pressed from the very first U.S. plates that were sent to the Los Angeles pressing plant.  This copy was definitely in the hands of a west coast radio station before the public even saw it in the record stores.

This one’s stunning gorgeous and it’s your keeper.

Vinyl: NM/NM.  Both sides look extremely clean.  Side 1 has a few very short hairlines on the very lip, but that’s all.  Side 2 looks new.

Plates: A1/A1.  Machine-stamped asterisk in the dead wax makes this copy pressed in Los Angeles.

Labels: EX/EX.  Side 1 has the radio station’s date stamp, “March 1969.”  Side 2 has some very light white wear around the stem.  Otherwise, labels are full glossy and beautiful.

Sleeve: VG+.  Company Apple sleeve is in nice condition. Just light record outdent, a few wrinkles and light label serrations.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

**Note:  All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.**

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
