On offer here, is a very rare and unusual 1971 issue of John's iconic first solo album, following the break up of The Beatles
Pressed on the same heavyweight vinyl as the first UK issues, this Philippines copy displays the same label layout as the UK release but with the bizarre inclusion of 'The Beatles' credit
The Vinyl
Visually: Beautiful, deep gloss surfaces with no signs of groove wear - some light surface marks and scuffs (nothing much) - as you can see from the photos above, the vinyl is identical to the UK first pressings with it's slightly raised perimeter edge Audio: Plays brilliantly with no real problems or any sound deterioration - near silent run ins - there is a little crackle in places on some tracks but nothing to be concerned about - the whole album plays from start to finish with no skips or stalls - a great copy
*
The Labels
These are UK labels with added Philippines credits and as you can see from the photo above, side one still shows the remnants of a poor attempt to remove the 'Mfd In UK' text which is under the finished top coating, side two was more successful - both labels carry the bizarre credit error,'The Beatles' - much deeper toning compared to UK issues - undamaged with perfect text - 'Factory Sample' sticker on side 1, which appears genuine but I have no way of verifying this
*
The Cover
Unlike the standard UK 1st issue this example is not laminated but has a slight sheen to the front and rear panels - I believe it was printed in this country for use outside the UK - a solid example with general signs of ageing and use
*
Inner Sleeve
Original issue with lyrics and credits in a very annoying circular format - top shape
*
Poster and Pig Photo
Rare poster and 'Pig' photo ( a dig at Paul's Ram cover picture ) - general ageing and toning, no tears or writing
*
I may have other rare Beatles vinyl listed, so please take a look
