Description
Beatles For Sale 1964
PCS 3062-Stereo-2nd Pressing (Gramophone rim text)
Matrix: YEX 142-1 and YEX 143-1
Stampers: 1/(G) PR and 1/(G) OP: (Stamped under the 1, is what could be a 6 but is more likely to be a G, not uncommon on EMI issues, stamped with first mothers ). I have a Sgt. Pepper listed, which has GAA stamped at 3 o'clock, the G looking very similar to the ones used with these B.F.S. mothers at 9 0'clock. I also have a Let It Be boxed set listed with a first issue 2U/2U disc, with the same 1(G) format, which couldn't possible be a 16th mother for such an early issue.
With mono very much the dominant format on its release in 1964, this rare 2nd stereo variant, issued barely a year later, is by far the hardest of all stereo copies to find. Most stereo discs would have sold as 1st presses, with demand greatly diminished by 1965, especially with the release of both, Help and Rubber Soul that year.
Audio from both sides of this stunning disc is flawless, delivering crystal clear, undiminished sound from near silent run-ins. The gleaming surfaces appear, as new, only showing wispy handling marks when tilted towards the light. If you want to hear this album as it sounded when first played, then this copy will not disappoint.
The labels are in superb condition, showing no unwanted writing or missing paper. The silver text is complete and the Yellow Parlophones, vibrant. There are numerous spindle trails around the centres.
The fragile, gatefold cover is fully intact but showing general wear, with 1cm tears to the top and bottom 'hinge'. Overall though, it's still in pretty good shape.
The original tracing paper lined, EMI inner sleeve is in good condition, with age browning and a tiny rip at the base where the LP has penetrated.
All in all, a fantastic example of this rarer variant.
I have other Beatles items listed, please take a look.
Please note: I am happy to sell world wide but please do not email me about postage cost. Your item will be well packaged and sent by air, insured and requiring a signature (also trackered where available). As well as the postal cost, there is also the cost of the packaging to consider. If you object to the amount then please don't bid. Thank you.
