HISTORY
This is the first MONO pressing THE BEATLES (also known as THE WHITE ALBUM) LP originally released in 1968 as a follow up to Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band and Magical Mystery Tour.  WHITE ALBUMS were released originally with serial numbers embossed on the front cover, and a top opening gatefold laminated sleeve (as this one does).     
The album was released in the UK on 22nd November 1968 and was at No1 for 7 weeks from 7th February 1968 (and a further week in February 1969). 
The Beatles also had a lot of fun often with making the versions of the songs different between mono and stereo LP releases - songs such as Helter Skelter are very different on here compared to the more familiar stereo version (a clear Ringo drum break without distortion and then fades out and ends rather than a false ending and Ringo shouting).

SLEEVE CONDITION
The Gatefold sleeve appears in FAIR condition.  There are numerous things to mention all of which on their own are minor and if they were the only detraction the sleeve would be graded a lot higher.  Slight creases both sides in the laminate (although no bubbling), a scuffed top part of the sleeve where the sleeve in fact opens up and houses the vinyls unconventionally, a slight off-white colour, a 2 inch cut on the rear of the sleeve, a number of light marks both sides, very slight spine splitting, and a small 1 inch split along the sleeve to the right of where the small B+W picture of Ringo is.   
  
INNER SLEEVE
The original black inner sleeves are not present (nor are the four Beatles pictures) - the album is accompanied by two aged white inner sleeves from around the same time as the date of the LP.  Black inner sleeves, as a sidenote, can be purchased here on eBay quite cheaply if so desired.  
The original large fold out poster is still present with the album and appears with no marks, thumb marks or rips, but shows signs of light handling.

LABELS
THE LABELS APPEAR IN VERY GOOD CONDITION - THERE ARE SLIGHT SPINDLE MARKINGS ON ALL SIDES WHEN HELD UNDER BRIGHT LIGHT
The labels have a 'Sold in the UK' statement above 'THE BEATLES', MANY MONO VERSIONS DO NOT HAVE THIS TEXT!!!! 
The phrase 'an EMI Recording' does NOT appear in the centre or left of any of the labels. Often thought when it doesn't have this to be an early pressing. Just to add: Rocky Raccoon is spelt correctly and George/Ringo's songs are credited to APPLE MUSIC PUBLISHING - it's a very rare variation.

VINYL
All four vinyl surfaces show up small but serious surface marks, light scratches and evidence of grubby handling.  Play is affected by this and is graded as FAIR, but I would like to add it is on the POOR side of FAIR.  However this is a rare and uniquely individual item with its own serial number and still retains a value in the collectors market.

This is a unique opportunity to own a rare FIRST pressing mono version of the Beatles WHITE ALBUM -  WITH SERIAL NUMBER - a tremendous and historic piece of work which has cemented the Beatles in music history forever as untouchable.
