Description
The Beatles Yellow Submarine MONO 1st issue UK LP Matrix numbers are XEX 715 -1 / XEX 716 -1
This is the rare first pressing MONO issue of the Beatles classic soundtrack album. The first album and only album to include a soundtrack scored by George Martin on side two. Side one is made up of previously released songs and a few gems like "it's all too much", "only a northern song" and "hey bulldog" these sound HUGE in mono! George Harrison really shined and brought a wild psychedelic sound to this album.
First issue Apple labels with "sold in uk text" above the spindle hole.
The vinyl grades EX for side one and Vg(+) for side two. The delicate parts of George Martin's soundtrack have some noticeable noise, although I don't have a mono cartridge so it may sound better with that. The cover grades VG +, light handling wear, the front cover has turned a warm cream colour with ageing of the glue that sticks the laminate. The colours are all still bright. The rear is clean and quite white. No writing stickers or tears. This is the earliest version of the cover omitting the printer credit on the lower rear flipback. Hard to find these covers in good condition. This one is nice.
The vinyl surface is stunning except for the couple of light scratches on side two (mentioned above and also shown in pictures). The album sounds really great on the Beatles side with very little surface noise at all. It's loud and raw and sounds fresh, the soundtrack has more noise due to its quiet nature, but is still very listenable. I'll grade VG but I'm sure most would grade VG+. I always like to be cautious.
Has its original black inner sleeve which has some drawing and writing on - hard to see at first because it's a Matt black sleeve. Otherwise the sleeve is in very nice condition.
I'm sure any buyer will be delighted but in the unlikely event you're not, I always give a full refund upon return of the record in the same condition.
