The Beatles “Yellow Submarine”. Original U.K. Mono Pressing LP PMC 7070. Apple Records 1969. Made in the United Kingdom.

Beautifully preserved time capsule copy. This is a once in a lifetime "Time Capsule" find of this delicately constructed laminate picture sleeve and near flawless vinyl. This was acquired personally by me from a private Beatles collector some years ago, and I have never played it since it has been in my possession. Safely stored in a smoke free environment. This copy appears to have been played only 2-3 times in its 53 year existence, possibly less. This is one for the history books. A stunning rarity in this condition.

- Original 1969 UK Mono pressing.

- Labels have “An E.M.I. Recording” text on two lines and “Sold In U.K. subject to resale price conditions, see price lists” text.

- Labels have Publishing year printed with small copyright symbol (p).

- Front laminated flipback LP sleeve.

- Back of sleeve has “Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patent No. 943,895” text along bottom-right flipback panel.

- Back of LP sleeve has “PMC 7070” printed text, and “Also available on Stereo No. PCS 7070″ in the upper-right corner

- Red lines above and below rear sleeve notes of the back cover.

- On bottom-left of rear cover states “E.M.I Records (The Gramophone Company Ltd) Hayes · Middlesex · England” below the “APPLE RECORDS” text.

- Made and Printed in Great Britain.

- The vinyl is housed in the original issued black inner sleeves with a die-cut circular opening on one side to expose the Apple label.

LP SLEEVE: Absolutely stunning, near pristine condition. You can search an entire lifetime for a copy of this fragile laminate sleeve in this beautifully preserved shape, but still come up short. It looks as though it was just brought home fresh from the shop in 1969. Amazing 53 year old time capsule copy. Just an rare wonder to behold. A true “holy grail” sleeve. The back panel has amazingly retained all of its bright white color. Even the laminated flip-back panels that fold over the back have managed to escape the usual “yellowing” from age.

- The edges are as new, straight from the factory. No rips, tears, or seam-splits.

- The spine is crisp and straight with absolutely no “wobbliness”, and clearly legible “The Beatles - Yellow Submarine” text.

- The corners all retain sharp 90 degree angles, with a few showing only the very tiniest of hairline crinkling that is only noticeable upon close and intense scrutiny.

- The delicate laminate is firmly adhered to the front of the sleeve with no “lifting” or “bubbling” and retains all of its shiny, mirror-like glory. There is a very small portion of faint unevenness to the laminate along the bottom of the opening edge of the sleeve, where the “Blue Meanies” are, that’s only detectable if you were to tilt the cover at an angle against direct light and study that portion very closely. The laminate has not actually "lifted" on this little portion, but if the light catches it just right, it just has the tiniest hint of a jagged look to it. Again, this is easily unnoticeable unless you're literally pressing your nose up to the sleeve to inspect for any hint of an "imperfection". Please see pic.

- There are a few very small, extremely faint signs of creasing (primarily along the top and bottom edges the front cover) that only become visible if tilting the cover at an angle against direct light. So faint are these that they are extremely difficult to photograph. Such creases were really unavoidable with the very delicate construction of these laminate sleeves. However, adding further to the amazing condition of this copy, the creasing is minimal and does not detract from the beauty of the sleeve due to their faint visibility. You really have to intentionally go hunting for them to even notice them. There are two slightly more noticeable creases along the left spine side of the from cover. These, too, are very faint and difficult to see under normal lighting conditions, but if you were to observe the cover under really bright, direct sunlight, they become more visible (See pics).

- The opening slot side is in excellent condition. The original owner appears to have taken great care with handling, as there are no signs of tearing or nicks/denting. Just the tiniest hints of feathering that only become noticeable upon close and intense inspection.

- The back of the sleeve is the best you are likely to ever encounter. It has miraculously retained its bright, white color and even the laminated flip-back panels that fold over the edges retain the same tone as the rest of the back of the sleeve. Usually there is much aging and “yellowing” of these laminated portions and severe browning of the matte texture majority of the back cover. It is not the case with this one, however. After nearly 53 years, the entire back of the sleeve is gloriously white with just a few very small, light, pencil-tip sized aging spots sprinkled along the laminated flip-back panel portions. Considering that the main portion of the back cover is made of an un-laminated matte texture, It is simply amazing how this has managed to escape the ravages of time. When scrutinized in direct sunlight, only the very slightest hints of discoloration become discernible. It’s simply exquisite. Please see pics.

- All of the original colors of the artwork still retain their original, rich tones and hues. There is no fading of the colors since this has been safely stored away from direct light. Please note that any discoloration or white streaks you may notice in the pictures on the laminated portions of the sleeve are merely reflections of the sunlight cast upon the laminate. The laminate on the front of the sleeve is so shiny and well-preserved that it is difficult to photograph without inadvertently capturing reflections. 

VINYL:

It is apparent that the original owner took loving care of this and carefully handled it. Looking at the surface, it could not have been played more than a few times at most. The surface has that factory-fresh, deep, silky, rich gloss and possesses a shining luster that’s utterly mesmerizing. You will be hard pressed to ever find a copy that matches this.

The only evidence of actual play is some small, extremely faint blemish marks around the perimeter of center holes of the labels. These are just residual marks which occur when placing the vinyl onto the metal spindle of a turntable, and the tip of the metal spindle makes contact with the label surface, inevitably causing these faint blemishes. These marks really only become visible if you tilt it at just the perfect angle for direct light to catch it. There is no actual damage to the label, however. When the light captures it just right, they appear as very transparent, shiny shadows (I can only accurately describe them like snail tracks appear on the ground when the sunlight hits it just right). Even under normal light, extremely difficult to see.

When tilting the vinyl at an angle against direct sunlight, I detect a few wispy, barely visible hairline marks and fine line marks before they go out of view again against the glint of the sun.

ORIGINAL BLACK INNER SLEEVE:

- No seam-splits, rips, or tears. Amazing “as new” condition with just some minor wrinkles that are just the result of the nature of the delicate construction of these rare, original inner sleeves.
